Energy Business

The Takara Leben Group conducts energy business utilizing renewable energy that contributes to reductions in the emissions of CO2, a greenhouse gas. We develop mega-solar power facilities at places such as on idle land for large-scale solar power generation.

Since entering this business in 2013, we have been involved in developing mega-solar power facilities centered on the Kanto area, and currently operate 62 facilities (calculated based on the number of licenses) as of the end of March 2021. Total power generation is approximately 206 MW, and we aim to achieve 360 MW by the end of March 2025.

Completion Ceremony Held for Mega Solar LS Chiba Katsuura Power Generation Facility

A ceremony to mark the completion of construction of the LS Chiba Katsuura Power Generation Facility in Katsuura City, Chiba Prefecture was held in March 2021. The facility is Takara Leben’s largest mega solar power generation facility, with a total site area of approximately 520,000 m2, generating capacity of 30 MW, and projected annual generation of 34 million kWh. Much of the facility site is leased from Katsuura City, and the project is being conducted in a manner that also contributes to the community.

New Mega Solar Power Generation Facility Projects Launched

In December 2019, we launched the LS Tottori Daisen Power Generation Facility and LS Miyagi Matsushima power generation facility projects. In both projects, we are contributing to the community by acquiring idle land and using it as power generation facility lots. The Takara Leben Group will continue to value the relationships of trust it has established with local communities while actively investing in renewable energy such as solar power generation.

Overview of the LS Tottori Daisen Power Generation Facility Project

This project uses land that was formerly a golf course, located at the base of Mt. Daisen, the highest peak of the Chugoku region. A forestland development permit was secured from Tottori Prefecture in order to carry out construction, and we signed a development agreement with the local town of Hoki.

Overview of the LS Miyagi Matsushima Power Generation Facility Project

This project is using the former site of a gravel quarry, located on the northern side of the Sanriku Expressway’s Matsushima North Interchange. A forest land development permit was secured from Miyagi Prefecture in order to carry out construction, and we signed development agreements with the local town of Matsushima and the Nemawari Water Usage Union.

Electric Power Supply to Minna-denryoku Starts

The LS Mie Yokkaichi and LS Shizuoka Omaezaki power-generation facilities began supplying electric power to Minna-denryoku, Inc., a social energy company, in January 2019. Through Minna- denryoku, which enables electric power consumers to select their energy power supplier, we are providing electric power to consumers who want to use renewable energy.

Measures to Reduce Energy Consumption

Takara Leben Infrastructure Fund seeks to create eco-friendly, sustainable environments by investing in renewable energy power generation facilities and other projects. Its efforts contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 70,410 tons* annually.

* Annual amount of reduction of CO2 emissions compared to fossil fuel-fired thermal power plants based on the output of power generation facility panels.

Measures to Reduce Energy Consumption

Takara Leben Sustainability Fund

Takara Leben began operation of new means of financing with the aim of encouraging measures that contribute to the global environment. Leben Funding LLC. was established in January 2021, and in collaboration with Funds, Inc., it launched the Takara Leben Sustainability Fund #1 and conducted crowdfunding to solicit loan investments from a wide range of investors. The collected funds will be used as working capital for renewable energy projects and CSR measures.
